PT-141 has demonstrated to cause an aphrodisiac effect increasing libido in both men and women.
It has shown to be an effective treatment for arousal disorder (poor response to sexual stimulus), low libido and low sexual desire.
In men, PT-141 is used to treat erectile dysfunction, by increasing sexual arousal and stronger harder erections.

Unlike viagra and cialis, PT-141 does not work on the vascular system but rather causes erections by stimulating the neural circuitry in the brain, transmitting signals to nerves in the penis.

PT-141 has shown promising effects to improve social cognition and behavior. It has been researched as a treatment for autism, which is a disorder of brain development characterized by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication, and repetitive behaviors.

In Vivo:
A study was published in 2016 that tested its use on women. It was determined in the study that a dose between 1.25 mg and 1.75mg was the dosage to use to improve sexual desire.

General dosage for men was a 2mg dose.
1 hour prior to sex, subjects were injected 1mg for a test dose, then another 1mg 30 minutes later to see how it was tolerated.
Effectiveness per subject was dose dependant, and it was important not to go above the recommended dosage within 72 hours.
It demonstrated effectiveness in subjects for up to 72 hours of injection.
